Florida sues Digital Domain Florida

I’m writing this up on Thursday night, and I’m bloody tired. Instead of writing a long post, I'm going to be lazy and direct you to some links.

The first link is to the law suit that the state of Florida has levelled against John Textor and the rest of the Digital Domain Florida stakeholders. It’s a very compelling read and not that full of dense legal jargon.

“Digital Domain Florida’s financial statements were ”insanely cash-flow negative“ because it was incurring expenses during this time at a rate of approximately $800,000 per day, as a result of its massive investments in the animated film and education businesses, neither of which were generating revenue or earnings, and its involvement in its ill-fated co-production deals.”

$800,000 a day. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

The Hollywood Reporter has a good write up on it as well.

The next link is to VFX Soldier’s most popular post, written way back in 2010 called Wages in the VFX, Animation and Games Industry. While it’s four years old, I think a lot of the points it brings up are as timely as ever.

That’s it from me today, have an awesome weekend.
